New contacts for Crossway
As a result of our door knocking campaign we are on track to have 4,500 brochures out by the end of this week. So far this has yielded about 50 contacts (one family unit) that we have been able to ask for their email address, their mailing address, or some other form of contact information to be able to keep in contact with them up until the start of the church. Beginning this week we have begun sending out weekly updates to not only keep the date of the grand opening of Crossway fresh in their mind, but also to highlight different aspects of the church. We have also had a few people who have contact us saying that they are new the area and that they have been looking for a church like ours. One lady even volunteered to work in our nursery.
God also answered another pray request we’ve had by sending a missionary that we had met back in the summer to our area for a few days. He contacted Justin and said that he would like to help us knock a few doors while he was close by. He came in for a few hours one day and was able to get 100 brochures out and came back with several contacts.
New supporting churches
Last week we mentioned about a new church taking us on for support. We’re excited to report that God decided to answer that pray again this week by laying it on the hearts of the Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church of Martinsburg, WV to begin supporting us financially. This was a bit of a surprise to us because although we were able to stop in on a Sunday morning back in the spring, we never had the opportunity to actually present our work to them. It’s a great thing to be reminded that God is able to meet our needs in ways that we couldn’t have planned for.
Needed items for Crossway
We’ve been scouring Craigslist daily (and sometimes more than once a day) for some of the items that we need for the church. On Thursday last week we came across an ad for a church in Irving that was having a moving sale. They had listed several items that we had been searching for, so on Friday we loaded up in the truck and drove down to see what was available. To make a long story short (or maybe it was just a long trip!) we ended up getting (6) wooden 8’ tables (in like-new condition), (50) folding chairs (again, in like-new condition), a chair dolly, (15) child-size chairs, a rolling metal cart (to put our sound/video equipment on), (16) commercial grade foam floor mats (to use in our nursery area) and a few miscellaneous items. The asking price that they had for all these items was $250, which was a deal, but we offered $220 and they accepted. We love getting good deals, especially when we know it’s from God!
We’re looking forward to sharing more answers to pray in the coming weeks. Please don’t forget to keep us in your prayers, too. God bless!
