What a wonderful time we had this past weekend in Heavener, OK with Old Pathway Baptist Church. The church was hosting their annual Homecoming meeting. Now we were not familiar with “Homecoming” meetings so we were looking forward to the new experience. It was no disappointment – of course. There were about 20 different pastors & preachers present who were either from that area at one time, currently do live in the area, or were old friends with someone who does. We were just the missionaries trying to schedule a meeting. Pastor Presson graciously allowed us to join them for their Homecoming so that we could have an opportunity to present our burden to several different pastors at one time, and hopefully schedule a few meetings as a result. Praise the Lord, that is exactly what happened. Two different pastors asked us to share our work with their church – one in Sallisaw, OK next month, and the other in Murphy, NC in November.
In addition to the blessing of scheduling more meetings, we also had a wonderful time of fellowship with the people there. It’s always fun when you get around God’s people. We got to hear some great preaching & singing, enjoying some good food, and meet some wonderful people.
A couple of those wonderful people, who were the guest singers, were the Flannagans, although this was not my (Amber) first time of meeting them. I actually grew up listing to the Flannagans singing in my church as a child. I haven’t heard of them in about 20 years! I thoroughly enjoyed being able to hear them sing some old familiar songs. Even more than that, we found out they live about 40 miles from Frisco, so Lord willing we’ll be able to see more of them in the coming years.
Recap
We mentioned last week that Justin was going to be preaching the closing service for an area Vacation Bible School. The service went very well. Justin had a great time preaching to the kids (and workers). Apparently the kids enjoyed him too, because at the close of the service they took up a special offering. The pastor told the kids that they could pick one of three people to give the money to: a missionary that the church supported, a local charity fund, or the guest preacher. You guessed it! They chose the guest preacher. In addition they church also gave Justin a love offering. I love watching God take of us & meet our every need. He is just awesome!
We are also excited to report that God allowed us to see 3 more souls saved this past week. My, my, my, what a joy is to serve my Jesus!
New Support
We received a great phone call this week from Pastor Mondt in Winnemucca, NV letting us know that Lighthouse Baptist Church voted to take our family on for financial support. Praise the Lord! It is always humbling to receive that vote of confidence from people who are willing to invest their resources in the work that God has entrusted in us.This now brings our support level to 18%.
I realize this was quite lengthy & I appreciate you taking time to read this. Thank you for your prayers & support. God bless.
