We had scheduled the meeting with Pastor Meksch not long after beginning deputation last year in April, so we were excited to finally be there, not only to meet him and the people, but also to know that being at that church meant we were more than half way through deputation. Besides speaking with Pastor Meksch on the phone to schedule the meeting we had no prior contact with him. A missionary couple, who are good friends with the Meksch’s and who we met at our very first meeting, gave us his number and encouraged us to call him. It was such a pleasure to finally meet them, and we really enjoyed getting to know them. After starting and pastoring a church on the Oregon Coast for 42 years, God led them to Abilene to take over the Harvest Baptist Church. They have been at there for over 3 years now and God has been blessing.
Pastor Meksch graciously allowed Justin to not only present our ministry, but also preach the Wednesday night message. As always he made mention of our update sign-up sheet, and when we went to pack up our things at the end of the service we were pleasantly surprised to see a nearly full sign-up sheet. I imagine that many of those who signed up are reading this update, so I wanted to say thank you. It is such an encouragement knowing that people all across the country are taking time to not only follow this journey, but also lift us up in prayer. Please feel free to leave a comment or send us a message – we love hearing from you!
Before I end for this week I did want to mention that we were able to look at four different commercial properties for rent in the Frisco area last week. Of those four only one of them would be a good option. It is located in a small strip mall with about four or five other businesses. The available unit is on actually located on the second floor, however there is elevator access with an enclosed outer walkway from the elevator to the unit entrance. The size is approximately 2,000 sq. ft., and the price is listed as $1,200/month. This is by far the cheapest location we’ve seen available anywhere in that area. We plan to do some more research and acquire more information, but this is certainly a contender as a possibility for a start up location. Please continue to pray for God’s leading and provision in this matter.
In a couple days we’ll be leaving Oklahoma to head to our next meeting in Theodore, AL with Lighthouse Baptist Church and Pastor Tewell. From there we’ll be coming back to Oklahoma for a few days before before heading to Missouri for a missions conference. It should go without saying, but please do keep our traveling safety in your prayers. God has been so gracious in sparing us from any accidents or incidents thus far, and I believe that is largely in part to your prayers. Also if you would pray that this horrible sickness that is making its way around would not find our family, we would appreciate it so very much. Thank you for all your support, thoughts, prayers and concern. May God bless you in great ways this week.
